Before 1876 the Valley was called Ojigoku which means "Great Hell", but it was renamed Owakudani upon the news of the visit of the Emperor. The Valley is famous for its beautiful view on Mount Fuji and the near Lake Ashinoko. It is said, the place is one of the 50 best scenic views in the Prefecture.

Tips & Tricks

They sell Black Eggs cooked in the sulfur of Owakudani, it is said if you eat one of these eggs it lengthen your lifespan by 7 years
